‘Fall on Your A** Right Now’: Charles Barkley Awkwardly Demonstrates How to Fall Safely on Inside the NBA
Charles Barkley was goaded by his Inside the NBA colleagues to do a live demonstration on the proper way to fall while avoiding injury.
During the halftime show, the broadcast showed New Orleans Pelicans star Zion Williamson injuring his wrist as he fell during a game. Barkley blamed the injury on Williamson trying to catch himself as opposed to coming to a more controlled fall.
“I hate when players do that,” Barkley said. “Fall on your ass or something… We did practice that when I was playing for the 76ers.”
Kenny Smith and Shaquille O’Neal didn’t believe that Barkley’s team used to practice safe falls. Barkley insisted that they did, resulting in O’Neal imploring him to “fall on your ass right now.”
Barkley stood up and got in front of the desk. As he fell forward — in a full suit and tie — he turned his body around to slide on his rear end. O’Neal burst into laughter from the demonstration and, as he normally does when Barkley does or says something unusual, told him to “do it again, Chuck.”
“I’m just telling you,” Barkley said. “Guys at home, don’t be stupid. Your body is too much. It’s got too much force. You’re gonna break your finger or your wrist.”
O’Neal, still not over the demonstration, asked to see it in slow motion.
“Fall on that ass, America!” O’Neal said.
