‘I Stayed Up to Watch This Crap!’ Ex-NFL Coach Rex Ryan Torches NY Giants for Brutal Performance in Sunday Night Game

Ex-NFL coach Rex Ryan went off on the New York Giants for a brutal stretch of plays in their game against the Kansas City Chiefs.

The Giants hosted the Chiefs for Week 3’s edition of Sunday Night Football. For the most part, the game was a defensive battle with both teams struggling to put points on the board. By the end of the fourth quarter, the Chiefs were able to pull away and won 22-9.

Minutes before the final whistle, however, the Giants still had a chance to win the game. With about three minutes left in the game, the Giants’ offense had 1st & goal from the Chiefs’ 4-yard line. First, Giants quarterback Russell Wilson threw the ball well beyond the end zone when he couldn’t find an open receiver. He was flagged for intentionally grounding, resulting in a loss of down and a loss of yardage.

On the ensuing 2nd & goal from the 14-yard line, Wilson gained four yards on a designed QB run. Wilson then threw it away once again on 3rd & goal, but luckily wasn’t flagged.

Then, on 4th & goal from the 10-yard line — with the game on the line — Wilson threw the ball away for a third time.

Speaking on Monday morning’s episode of Get Up, Ryan was in disbelief by what he watched:

I absolutely hate this, and I stayed up to watch this crap! Are you kidding me? Throw it in the tunnel? Like, you’re not even close to a guy so you’re gonna get an intentional grounding here. Next one comes up on this, on third down. Throw it up. OK, that’s great. We’re gonna live to fight another day.

Fourth down, I gotta force it in there, obviously. Who the hell are you going to? What, are you worried about Kurt Warner and your passing rating or some crap? Like, if there’s a way to bench a guy, bench him after those three plays. What are you trying to save yourself for? Like, are you kidding me? The ball, you can’t score when you throw it 20 yards in the damn stands. Give me a freaking break here! Like, I’ve seen enough and so has everybody else!
