Pelicans Analyst Goes OFF on Stephen A. Smith for Continuing to Take Shots at Zion Williamson’s Weight
New Orleans Pelicans analyst Antonio Daniels ripped Stephen A. Smith for his continued jokes about the physical fitness of star forward Zion Williamson.
On Friday morning, Smith appeared on Get Up to discuss the NBA season. While talking about which teams are under the most pressure to win, Smith brought up the Pelicans and, more specifically, Williamson. Unprompted, the First Take pundit expressed concern about “how many burgers he’s eating.”
“Zion Williamson, it’s not about his game. It’s about how many burgers he’s eating. Whether he is going to be in shape or keep eating McDonald’s… That’s what he has to prove, that the chefs don’t love him any longer”

The latest comments came just a few months after Smith claimed his sources told him Williamson was popular in the local restaurant scene and that he’d “eat the table.”
Not long after Smith’s comments on Get Up, Daniels went off.
“Listen man, I am all for objective, fair critiquing of individuals and, collectively, of teams,” he said on SiriusXM’s NBA Radio. “I felt what Stephen A. said this morning of Zion was completely inappropriate and lazy. If you have an issue, there’s a way to go about addressing that issue.
“[The Pelicans] have won eight of their last nine games, but then you wake up this morning and this right here is the topic? To me, it’s almost gotten to the point where it’s personal.”
The Pelicans’ official Twitter account also responded in the form of trolling Smith for his own athletic shortcomings.
