Steph Curry Laughs Off Notion of Superteam With LeBron: ‘I’m Good’

Steph Curry, the greatest shooter in NBA history, dashed the hopes of basketball fans hoping to see a “superteam” pairing him with LeBron James, who expressed his desire to join forces with the all-NBA guard on a recent episode of HBO’s The Shop.

James was asked who he’d want to play with before the curtain closes on his career, and he had an immediate answer.

“In today’s game, s– there’s some mother f– in today’s game, but Steph Curry,” the Laker said. “Steph Curry’s the one that I wanna play with for sure, in today’s game.”

The comment has made the rounds this week and Curry himself was asked about the notion of creating a superteam with “The King.”

In an interview with 95.7 The Game, a Bay Area based radio station, Curry was asked if he had heard James’ comments yet. The Warrior informed them that he had not, prompting the clip being played and Curry laughing as he recognized the voice immediately.

“Oh, shoot,” Curry laughed.

“You know what,” hosts Steiny & Guru said. “He might wanna play with you next weekend now.”

“That is phenomenal,” Curry replied.

The guard then asked the hosts when James had made these comments before laughing it off again, noting the two all-star team selections where they were paired together.

“Well he got his wish, he was the captain and he’s picked me the last two all-star games. I don’t know if that suffices but I’m good right now,” Curry stated.

While the thought of the two hall-of-famers together on the court is tantalizing, Curry doesn’t seem in a rush to leave the Bay Area and realistically can’t as he is under contract until 2026.

This might just be another “what-if” for the James camp as he’ll have a lot of time to think about next season since he’ll be watching the playoffs from home after his Lakers were eliminated from playoff contention this week.
