‘THAT’S AWFUL!’ NBC’s Mike Tirico Absolutely Destroys the NY Giants for Clock Management Disaster

The New York Giants’s end-of-half clock management on Sunday night was so poor that NBC play-by-play announcer Mike Tirico was livid in the broadcast booth.

Late in the second quarter, the Giants led the Buffalo Bills 6-0. With just 14 seconds left in the first half — with the ball on the Bill 1-yard line — the Giants made the questionable decision to try to run the ball in with no timeouts. Running back Saquon Barkley was stopped short of the goal line, and the resulting pile-up took too enough time off the clock to end the half before the Giants could run another play.

“Giants trying to get on the ball,” Tirico said as the play was unfolding. “They can’t; and that’s terrible, terrible clock management (at the) end of the half. That’s awful!”

Giants coach Brian Daboll was incredibly frustrated on the sidelines, yelling at his coaching staff in disbelief that the team didn’t end the half with points. He then had an animated discussion with quarterback Tyrod Taylor as the team walked into the locker room.

“Gotta get points there,” Tirico added.

Though it was just the first half, that play could have been the difference between a win and a loss for the Giants. If the team at least kicked a field goal, it would’ve gone into halftime up 9-0.

At the end of the fourth quarterback, the Giants found themselves at the Bills goal line again down 14-9. The team failed to scored a touchdown and lost a game. Had the team kicked the field goal in the first half, the score would have been 14-12 and the Giants could have just kicked a game-winning field goal instead of having to do for the end zone.
