‘This Is My Emotional State’: Miami Heat Star Jimmy Butler Once Again Steals the Show at Media Day With Another Bold Hairstyle

In what is starting to become an annual tradition, Miami Heat star Jimmy Butler turned heads at the team’s media day when he arrived with yet another unexpected hairstyle.
Last season, Butler shocked the NBA community when he arrived to media day sporting faux dreadlocks he had installed into his own hair. He took all his team photos with the hairstyle before removing it just s few days later.

On Monday, Butler made it clear that wasn’t just a one-time thing. The 34-year-old — with new facial piercings and his hair straightened and covering one of his eyes — fully committed to the emo look.

When it was time to speak to the media, Jimmy was immediately asked about the look.
“This is my emotional state,” Butler said. “I’m one with my emotions, so this is what you get.”

Butler’s teammates were also taken aback by the look. When center Bam Adebayo questioned the decision, Butler admitted that NBA media day is basically his Halloween.

The most likely conclusion is that Butler is trolling the NBA. Although he removed the dreadlocks from his head not long after media day last season, the NBA had to use Butler’s headshot with the locs because it was the most recent one at the time. Now, the NBA will have no choice but to use emo Jimmy Butler whenever a nationally-televised Heat game is advertised.
