Trump White House Deletes Tweet Taunting Dem Winner After Complaint

President Donald Trump’s White House deleted a post taunting the highest-profile victory in an election night wave of landslide victories for Democrats after it received a complaint.

Tuesday night’s high-profile elections were hotly anticipated as the first big electoral test of Trump’s second term, as Republicans tried to hold on to the governor’s mansion in Virginia for a term-limited incumbent, flip the governor’s seat in New Jersey, and fend off an ultra-progressive mayoral frontrunner in New York City.

Trump was also vocally opposed to Governor Gavin Newsom’s (D-CA) Prop 50 push to redistrict the state in response to a Trump push in states like Texas.

Things did not go well from the start. Former Rep. Abigail Spanberger (D-VA) defeated Virginia Lt. Gov. Winsome Earle-Sears in a race that was called in less than half an hour.

New Jersey was the next domino to fall as Rep. Mikie Sherrill (D-NJ) beat Trump-endorsed former state assemblyman Jack Ciattarelli (R). Newsom’s Prop 50 passed by nearly 30 points.

Then, Queens Assemblyman Zohran Mamdani (D) easily defeated former Governor Andrew Cuomo in a race that Trump was heavily involved in. He even contributed an 11th hour endorsement — of Cuomo, not Republican Curtis Sliwa.

The White House “celebrated” Mamdani’s win with a post featuring a redesigned New York Knicks logo that was altered to read “TRUMP IS YOUR PRESIDENT.”

The post remained live for hours, but was eventually deleted after the team complained to the White House. From Front Office Sports:

By Wednesday, the post had been deleted. A source close to the Knicks tells Front Office Sports that the team reached out to the White House about the post, and they voluntarily took it down.

“The Knicks remain neutral on political matters,” the team said in a statement to FOS on Wednesday. “We hope all our elected officials, whether current or recently elected, do a great job in office.”

Mamdani’s campaign used a Knicks parody logo until the team similarly requested they stop, in that case via a cease-and-desist letter.
