Top Biden Aide Admits to Congress He Would Have Scored a $4 Million Bonus if Ex-President Won in 2024

The Republican-led House Oversight Committee released new footage on Tuesday of Mike Donilon, former President Joe Biden’s top advisor and longtime strategist, revealing he would have been given a $4 million bonus had his boss won the 2024 election.

That $4 million bonus would have been on top of the $4 million that Donilon was paid to help steer Biden’s doomed ’24 reelection bid. Axios was the first outlet to report on Donilon’s big bonus back in July, based on a source familiar with his testimony.

A reticent Donilon, after being asked what “circumstances” he would have received a bonus for, told the committee he would have been given the bonus if Biden beat Donald Trump.

“I believe it would have been $4 million,” Donilon said about his bonus.

His testimony was delivered during a hearing about Biden’s cognitive decline while in office — and whether there was a push by his closest advisors to keep it under wraps during the 2024 race.

The New York Times, back in August, reported Donilon’s testimony showed he “held a financial interest in Mr. Biden’s remaining in the presidential race, all while Mr. Donilon was part of a very small inner circle of aides who kept damaging information from Mr. Biden.”

The 66-year-old advisor, the Times pointed out, steadfastly resisted calls for Biden to exit the race, even after Biden’s devastating debate performance against Trump in June 2024.

Donilon, during his testimony, defended Biden and said he believed he was still capable of running the country for another four years.

“What I saw, day in and day out, was a leader who was deeply engaged and in command on critical issues, both at home and abroad,” Donilon told the committee, according to CNN.
