Tucker Carlson Makes Return to Cable News For One-On-One With Chris Cuomo

Tucker Carlson and Chris Cuomo

Former Fox News host Tucker Carlson will make his return to cable news next week for a one-on-one conversation with NewsNation host Chris Cuomo.

The exchange is set to air Monday on NewsNation at 8 p.m. EST. The appearance will be Carlson’s first on national television since he was fired by Fox News last year shortly after the network settled its defamation lawsuit with Dominion for $787.5 million. According to a press release from NewsNation, Cuomo and Carlson will discuss the latter’s recent interview with Russian President Vladimir Putin, his departure from Fox, and the January 6 riot.

Since leaving Fox News, Carlson has founded his own media company and launched a show on X, formerly known as Twitter, where he releases lengthy interviews and monologues. His latest interview with Putin drew backlash from media critics who accused Carlson of doing little to challenge the Russian president over his brutal invasion of Ukraine and other human rights abuses.

Cuomo, who was ousted from CNN in December 2021, will also field questions from Carlson during the interview. When both hosts were the prime time stars of their respective networks, Carlson frequently lobbed bombs at Cuomo. In recent commentary on his NewsNation show, Cuomo said Carlson’s Putin interview was a play for attention. “Tucker Carlson is getting exactly what he wants: attention,” Cuomo said.

“I think his work is demonstrable as not being just about giving people information, he has a point of view,” Cuomo added. “And often it’s not aligned with the facts.”
