Alex Wagner Mocks Christie for ‘Unironically’ Embracing Bipartisanship After Bridgegate

At the top of her new 4pm show on MSNBC Tuesday, Alex Wagner took on New Jersey Governor Chris Christie’s State of the State address, which included not only a passive-voice acknowledgment that “mistakes were clearly made” in the “Bridgegate” scandal, but also a call for increased cooperation between political factions in the new year.
“Despite the fact that the very heart of the Bridgegate scandal appears to be political revenge,” Wagner said, “Christie used today’s remarks to unironically revive his favorite theme — bipartisanship.”
Christie said the best parts of his tenure as governor have been when legislators of both parties have “chosen to work together.” He declared, “No state in this country has shown more bipartisan cooperation in governance in the last four years than New Jersey and our people are proud of it.”
Noting the multiple federal investigations into Christie’s office regarding the decision to close access to the George Washington Bridge last fall, Wagner said, “Despite Christie’s positive overtures in the last hour, the state of his state seems troubled at best.”
