Andrea Mitchell Asks Dem Sen. if He Plans to Apologize for Obama ‘Sexism’ Slam
Senate Democrats are battling President Obama and the White House over trade; a battle best exemplified by the war of words between Obama and Senator Elizabeth Warren. Obama dismissed Warren’s criticisms and called her a politician trying to score points, and in response Warren’s colleague Sherrod Brown implied the criticism is sexist in nature.
““I think referring to her as first name,” Brown said yesterday, “when he might not have done that for a male senator, perhaps? I’ve said enough.”
The president of NOW backed up that assessment by flat-out calling the criticism sexist, and this morning White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest said that not only does Obama refer to male politicians by their first name, but Brown should apologize soon.
Well, Brown was on with MSNBC’s Andrea Mitchell today and she asked, “Do you have any apologies to offer the president?”
Brown simply said “I don’t want this to be personal either way” and talked about why he and other Democrats are standing firm on this issue. But no, he did not offer anything resembling an apology.
