Annoyed Trump Accuses Fox’s Bret Baier of Pushing ‘Radical Left Story’ About $400 Million Gift 

President Donald Trump accused Fox News’s Bret Baier of pushing a “radical left story” regarding the Boeing 747-8 jet he accepted as a gift from the Qatari royal family.

Before his trip to Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates this week, Trump revealed he is accepting the $400 million plane, which he will use as the next Air Force One before retaining the jet for his presidential library after leaving office. The decision has raised clear ethical concerns, particularly given that Trump’s family is planning to build a $5.5 billion golf resort in Qatar.

On Friday’s Special Report, Bret Baier asked Trump about the plane, irking the president.

“A lot of the coverage back home was about this donation of the Qatar Boeing jet,” Baier said. “And I’ve heard you talk about–”

“You know,” Trump interrupted. “Until you bring this up now, I haven’t heard about it for three days.”

After some crosstalk, the president said, “I mean, we can talk about it again. You ready? You ready?”

“Briefly,” Baier replied. “I heard all the answers.”

“Well, no, but your audience has to hear the answers,” Trump said. “To be very simple, they’re giving it to the United States Air Force/Defense Department of the United States. They’re not giving it to me. I made a good deal. We need a plane for a couple of years before we get the other ones because Boeing is very late.”

The president went on to grumble about Boeing being behind schedule in manufacturing two new planes to serve as the next Air Force One. He then complained about the media’s coverage of the gift.

“But I just wanna say, it was a radical left story that a lot of people, including you,” he told Baier.

“I asked the [Qatari] prime minister about it specifically, and he said he didn’t understand the reaction back home,” the host said. “And he made that clear.”

“I think he was insulted, actually,” Trump responded. “He made a gift to help somebody that has helped them. It was so nice as a gesture.”
