Bernie Sanders Campaign Manager Dismisses ‘Foreigners’ Like Former Mexico Prez Vicente Fox
Sure, everybody loves former Mexico President Vicente Fox when he’s trashing Donald Trump, but watch how the tone changes when he sets his sights on somebody we like. On Tuesday morning’s edition of CNN’s New Day, host Alisyn Camerota asked Bernie Sanders campaign manager Jeff Weaver to respond to comments that former President Fox made lumping Sanders in with Donald Trump as similar to the “dictators” and “false prophets” who dominated his country in the 20th century. Not surprisingly, Weaver disagreed, but the language he ised to disparage Fox was somewhat surprising, coming from a liberal politician’s campaign chief:
He is a right wing politician from Mexico. Everybody knows that. He’s just wrong. The person in the race who is out there to defend American democracy, to create an economy that works for everybody, to end corrupt finance system, that’s Bernie Sanders. And you know, right wing foreigners, you know, you could take that with what it’s worth.
What next, is he going to holler at Meathead to get out of his favorite chair?
As a liberal myself, I understand the use of “right-wing” as a pejorative, but distrusting people because they’re “foreigners” who are “from Mexico” isn’t really our thing. Then again, neither is protecting gun manufacturers or blaming Democrats for terrorism, so carry on, Mr. Weaver.
