Bill Maher: We Are Never Going to Stop Mass Shootings Because ‘Both Parties Love Guns!’

Bill Maher regretfully brought up the latest mass shooting on his show Friday, saying he’s sick and tired of all the media coverage because every time there’s a shooting like this, the media goes all-out to report it, and the NRA “assassins lobby” exploits people’s fears for personal profit.

Chris Hayes found it odd how many people slammed Obama for giving a partisan speech on the economy after brief remarks on ths shooting, since, as he put it, many of them believe “we are talking too much of this” and dismiss the need for any policy changes. Therefore, he concluded, they should be happy that “the president says a few words about it and moves on.”

Maher cried, “We’re not gonna do anything because both parties love guns!” David Frum said there needs to be a change in public consciousness instead of new laws, and people need to realize having guns in their home can be a danger to them and their loved ones.

Maher said he’s tired of having to talk about all these shootings, saying the NRA just wants to “sell more guns” by exploiting people’s fear after watching so much “disaster porn” on cable news.
