Bill O’Reilly Says ‘Very Emotional Guy’ Trump ‘Lacks’ Campaign Messaging ‘Discipline’

Bill O’Reilly argued a “very emotional” Donald Trump is hurting his own campaign with a “lack” of “discipline” in his messaging.

O’Reilly joined NewsNation’s Leland Vittert on Monday evening to discuss the ongoing presidential race and while O’Reilly denied that Trump is “afraid” of Vice President Kamala Harris, he did point out some general missteps the campaign is making.

“Has Kamala Harris figured out how to bring out the very worst in Donald Trump?” Vittert asked.

“Trump will bring out the very worst without any help,” O’Reilly joked.

The former president has earned backlash for some more personal attacks on Harris that have focused on her laugh and how she’s presented her race (she was born to an Indian mother and Jamaican father). O’Reilly previously warned Trump that his comments on Harris and race at a recent event “alienated” millions of Black voters.

“I think that the former president lacks discipline still in messaging,” O’Reilly said, adding the “deck is stacked against” Trump because the media “is not going to report anything honest at all” and Democrats have a constituency that “hates” him.

O’Reilly, a former longtime Fox News host, argued the Trump campaign is overcomplicating its messaging. He said the campaign should only focus on issues like inflation and the southern border, and he recommended playing an interview between Harris and Lester Holt about Harris’s lack of a visit to the border on a loop.

The other element hurting Trump is Trump himself, O’Reilly said, calling the former president a “very emotional guy” whose performance for the day is completely based on his mood. If he’s having a “good day,” according to O’Reilly, his messaging is more focused and “crisp.”

“One thing I know about Donald Trump is he’s a very emotional guy,” he said. “People don’t think he’s emotional, but he is, and if he’s having a bad day, that bad day’s going to come out during a rally or an interview.”
