Bill O’Reilly Scolds Pundits For ‘Exaggerating And Justifying Bad Behavior’ On Romney Bullying Story

On last night’s O’Reilly Factor, Bill O’Reilly observed that one of the most annoying aspects of his job is when he tries to confront some pundit with a piece of factual information and them trying to change the subject to other “bad behavior” that doesn’t hurt their side. He noticed this seemed to be happening with the story about Mitt Romney being a high school bully, with pundits resorting to “third-grade” tactics with the blame game.

Everyone does stupid things when they’re young. But O’Reilly argued that unless Romney’s high school pranks were part of a recurring trend with Romney and this was something he continued doing as the governor of Massachusetts, there’s no real story here. Democratic strategist John Hlinko argued that what Romney did went beyond a prank, and found it “disturbing” that Romney did not recall the events.

Republican strategist Chris Begala agreed with O’Reilly’s basic premise about shifting the conversation on bad behavior, before bashing The Washington Post as “biased” and “corrupt” for running the story about Romney’s past. A little later in the interview, O’Reilly did note to Begala about how some conservatives have been trying and shift the conversation to President Obama‘s bad behavior when he was younger.
