Bill O’Reilly Will Push to Moderate Ted Cruz-Donald Trump Head-to-Head Debate on Fox
While interviewing Texas Senator Ted Cruz Tuesday night, Fox host Bill O’Reilly found inspiration for his next biggest chase in this election season: an exclusive debate between Cruz and Republican frontrunner Donald Trump.
The topic came up several times during the interview Tuesday, after Cruz said, “I’ve got an idea — why don’t you ask Donald Trump to come here and defend himself? Donald is afraid to debate.”
“Debate you one-on-one?” replied O’Reilly to clarify.
“I would love to do a one-on-one,” Cruz said confidently. “You can moderate. He wouldn’t argue you’re an unfair moderator. I’m happy to have you moderate.”
O’Reilly seemed genuinely giddy over the idea, and pursued it enthusiastically. He told Cruz, “We’re gonna work that. We’re gonna work it.” Before O’Reilly refocused the conversation back to today’s events in Belgium, he reconfirmed the thought with Cruz one last time to ensure that the Texas Senator was on board with the proposed event: “But I will follow up on that debate offer and I appreciate you making it.”
Cruz confirmed, “I think it’d be terrific.”
Your move, Donald.
