‘BOOTLICKERS’: Fox News Shows Protestors Mocking Trump Surrogates Outside Courthouse
The circus-like atmosphere continued outside Donald Trump’s criminal trial in Manhattan on Monday, as protestors mocked the former president’s surrogates attending the trial.
A slew of Republicans have shown fealty to Trump by traveling to New York and railing against the 34 felony counts of falsifying business records, to which he has pleaded not guilty.
Last week, several prominent Republicans – some of whom the presumptive GOP nominee is reportedly considering to be his running mate – all appeared outside his trial wearing Trump-like navy blue suits with red ties. One attendee, Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-AL), seemed to admit that lawmakers went to the trial to help Trump circumvent a gag order on the former president that is meant to prevent him from attacking witnesses, the jury, and court staff and their families.
On Monday, Fox News Senior Correspondent Eric Shawn reported from outside the courthouse and noted a substantial contingent of anti-Trump protestors.
“And for the first time, a large group of protestors converged on the courthouse and they tried to drown out a news conference of Trump supporters,” he said.
Shawn’s report cut to an image of said protestors with a giant banner reading, “BOOTLICKERS.” Another sign – in a reference to Trump’s alleged tryst with adult film actress Stormy Daniels – said, “Slept with a porn star. SCREWED THE VOTERS.”
“Well, that’s what it was like outside,” Shawn continued. “Kind of chaotic.”
Those speaking on Trump’s behalf outside the courthouse on Monday included former Trump official Kash Patel and Rep. Andrew Clyde (R-GA).
According to The New York Times, one protestor yelled a question at the former president’s boosters.
“Where do you do your clothes shopping? Dictators ‘R’ Us?” the protestor asked.
