Shooting at NSA Headquarters Security Gate

Reports are emerging about a shooting near the headquarters of the National Security Administration and Fort Meade, with one fatality unconfirmed.

According to CBS Baltimore, police opened fire on a vehicle attempting to ram a security barrier outside of a connecting road leading to the NSA, injuring two people (one allegedly a uniformed man). Aerial footage shows a badly-smashed SUV cordoned off near the gate.

Early reports indicate that one person died on the scene, though this is unconfirmed at the moment.

UPDATE (10:27 a.m.): CNN reports that Anne Arundel County police has said that one person was killed and one injured, and a security officer was taken to the hospital.

CNN also reports that the attackers did not reach the NSA building itself, nor did they reach the Fort Meade facilities.

UPDATE (10:27 a.m.) CNN has more details about the shooting, including the fact that the two men who attempted to breach the security barrier in a stolen car were disguised as women and that drugs were found in the car.

“The shooting scene is contained and we do not believe it is related to terrorism,” the FBI’s Baltimore office said in a statement obtained by NBC News.

The NSA will hold a press conference shortly.
