Brit Hume Clashes with Marie Harf Over Investigating Anonymous Kavanaugh Claims: ‘Are You Serious?!?’
Fox News political analyst Brit Hume had a fiery exchange with Fox News contributor Marie Harf ahead of the hearing of Supreme Court nominee Judge Brett Kavanaugh and his first accuser Dr. Christine Blasey Ford.
During a panel discussion, anchor Bret Baier noted the sensitivity surrounding sexual assault allegations, citing a statistic that two out of three victims don’t come forward, but also mentioned the anonymous letter received by Sen. Cory Gardner (R-CO) and the media treated it “like another legitimate accuser.”
Harf pointed to “all of the outstanding questions” there are about the allegations that “have not been investigated by the committee or the FBI.”
That didn’t sit well with Hume.
“So any kind of anonymous, unspecific allegation can be thrown into the mix here and warrants an investigation. Are you serious?!?” Hume reacted.
“But Brit, if you are Brett Kavanaugh and you claim and you believe that you are completely innocent, wouldn’t you want an investigation to clear your name?” Harf asked.
“It’s not about what I think or Brett Kavanaugh thinks,” Hume shot back. “It’s about what you just said, because of these also uncorroborated cases, and in some cases recanted allegations, there should now be an investigation.”
Harf insisted that we should “take the time” to look into a Supreme Court nominee and that if there’s “nothing there,” then we can move forward.
“What do you think Sen. Dianne Feinstein was thinking when she sat on the letter in July?” Baier asked Harf.
“I have no idea but I thought it was a very bad mistake,” Harf responded.
