Chris Wallace Challenges Fiorina On Generals Claim: ‘Weren’t You Just Flat Wrong?’
Host of Fox News Sunday Chris Wallace challenged his guest Carly Fiorina on her claim during the Tuesday Republican presidential debate that five generals had been fired by President Barack Obama for disagreeing with him.
“Now, it is true that some of those generals did leave over policy differences–” he began.
Fiorina admitted that she got one of the names wrong; General Jack Keane left during the Bush administration. “Four out of five,” she said.
“Well, three out of five,” Wallace corrected. “[David Petraeus] really left because of scandal, his extramarital affair, also the mishandling of classified information.”
But Fiorina wasn’t ceding that point. “Mrs. Clinton still hasn’t been indicted over the same things, so perhaps Petraeus’ dismissal was convenient. I don’t know.”
“But then there’s Keane, who says he’s never served in the Obama administration, says he’s never spoken to Barack Obama,” Wallace pressed. “Weren’t you just flat wrong about that?”
“I was wrong about Keane, yes,” she admitted. “He’s the exception who proves the rule.”
