Chris Wallace: People Underestimated Reagan, They Might Be Doing the Same With Trump
Chris Wallace wondered on Fox News Sunday today if the media and the political establishment are making the same mistake with Donald Trump as they did with Ronald Reagan.
Wallace brought up how one Democrat famously dismissed Reagan as an “amiable dunce” and took note of how he’s seen people in the press recently “dismissing Trump the same way and talking about what a disaster he’s gonna be as president.”
And so, Wallace observed, “There was an underestimating of Ronald Reagan as a person and a leader, and I wonder if there isn’t the same about Donald Trump.”
Wall Street Journal Washington bureau chief Gerald Seib distinguished the not-very-ideological Trump from Reagan while still conceding, “We’ve been through a year of underestimating Donald Trump.”
