Claire McCaskill Chides Hillary: She Should Be ‘More Careful’ and Respect ‘Every American Voter’

Democrat Senator Claire McCaskill of Missouri hit Hillary Clinton for her recent comments attacking Donald Trump voters, as the lawmaker said the former presidential candidate should “show respect to every American voter.”

McCaskill, who made the comments while appearing MSNBC, addressed Clinton’s recent controversial remarks she made while speaking at a conference in India.

“His whole campaign, ‘Make America Great Again,’ was looking backward,” said Clinton while discussing the parts of America that she says are not “optimistic, diverse, dynamic, moving-forward.”

“You know, you didn’t like black people getting rights, you don’t like women getting jobs, you don’t want to see that Indian-American succeeding more than you are, whatever your problem is, I’m going to solve it,” she added.

Rather than following the Democrat nominee’s talking points, McCaskill advised Clinton to change her tone on Trump voters: “For those of us that are in states that Trump won we would really appreciate if she would be more careful and show respect to every American voter and not just the ones who voted for her.”

The senator, who was responding to an attack ad featuring the comments, also told anchor Kasie Hunt that Clinton’s attack on Trump appeared to be “criticizing Missouri voters” and “wasn’t helpful.”

As for Clinton herself, she has since clarified her comments, but did not apologize — despite widespread criticism.

“I understand how some of what I said upset people and can be misinterpreted,” Clinton said. “I meant no disrespect to any individual or group. And I want to look to the future as much as anybody.”
