Clinton Addresses FBI Notes on Email Interview: ‘I Take Classification Seriously’

hillary clintonHillary Clinton took questions from reporters during a press gaggle on her plane today, and one of the things she addressed the FBI’s notes on her email interview.

The revelation that Clinton was unclear about the purpose of one (c) marking (though that particular email lacked a classified header), combined with apparent confusion about protocol for discussing drone strikes in emails, have led to questions about whether Clinton took classified information seriously.

She was asked about this on the plane. Here’s what Clinton said:

“I went into the State Department understanding classification. I’ve been on the Senate Armed Services Committee for years before I was Secretary of State. I take classification seriously. The fact I couldn’t remember certain meetings, whether or not they had occurred, doesn’t in any way affect the treatment I had and still have of classified material.”
