CNN Reporter Deletes Tweet Calling Israelis Cheering Missile Strikes ‘Scum’

CNN International Correspondent Diana Magnay was reporting live from the Israel-Gaza border Thursday night when Israelis gathered behind her started cheering as they watched missiles fall into the Gaza Strip. “It is an astonishing, macabre and awful thing to watch this display of fire in the air,” she told CNN’s Wolf Blitzer, who is stationed in Jerusalam.

But it was a tweet she sent out shortly after she appeared on CNN that has drawn even more attention. Magnay sent the message below at 5:43 p.m. ET, before quickly deciding to delete it:

Magnay appeared to be saying that she and her crew were being threatened by the Israelis gathered near the border to watch the missile strikes, referring to them as “scum.” Since Magnay deleted that tweet, she has not sent out any further posts on Twitter.
