CNN to Premiere New Van Jones Show Focused on ‘Anti-Trump Resistance Movement’

In January, regular CNN contributor and former Obama White House advisor Van Jones will get his own bimonthly, hour-long program titled The Van Jones Show on the cable news network.
“Jones will return to CNN with his unique take on the forces that elected Donald Trump, the anti-Trump “resistance” movement and the future of both major parties… [He] will introduce viewers and a live studio audience to the fresh and charismatic voices on the front lines of political fights across the country,” stated CNN in a press release today.
While this is certainly not Jones’ first stab at a CNN show — he joined a now-failed reboot of Crossfire in 2013 — The Van Jones Show will be his first attempt at hosting his own live cable news program with an in-studio audience. In recent months, the liberal commentator has gone viral several times for giving spirited rants against the Trump administration and his supporters in CNN appearances. As was seen in his “white lash” post-election day monologue, Jones tends to focus on the racial implications of America under President Donald Trump.
CNN has also opted to add another Jones-hosted show that will put attention on the U.S. criminal justice system and how it can be reformed. “The series focuses on reconciliation, hope and redemption within the criminal justice system,” stated CNN.
In the network’s press release, they cited Jones’ record on civil rights advocacy, his “ability” to appeal in a bipartisan fashion, and Ivy League education to promote his CNN projects.
