CNN’s Amanpour Puts Jon Stewart on the Spot About Why He Mocks CNN So Much

CNN today aired more of Christiane Amanpour‘s interview with Jon Stewart, and this part focused quite a bit on Stewart’s frequent habit of mocking CNN. Amanpour put him on the spot and said, “You have made a career of beating up on CNN and other cable shows.”

Amanpour brought up a recent Pew poll showing CNN is the most trusted news source for 54 percent of people, while The Daily Show only got 16 percent. Stewart mockingly likened that to people voting on which fast food establishment has the most edible food. Amanpour asked, “Do you do this because you think we could be so much more, or do you think it’s just hopeless altogether?”

Stewart said he doesn’t consider anything “hopeless,” but told her she’s got to feel a little silly about some things that happen on CNN, like that time CNN held a pretty over-the-top town hall event with Hillary Clinton and did a lot of self-congratulating right afterwards.
