CNN’s Candy Crowley To Rep. Bachmann: ‘It Appears That Your Campaign Is Imploding’

Presidential candidate Michele Bachmann appeared on CNN’s State of the Union today, and Candy Crowley suggested that the congresswoman’s campaign may be “imploding” because of her poor showing in recent polls following her victory in the Iowa straw poll only several weeks ago.

Bachmann countered that Crowley’s assertion was “completely inaccurate,” arguing she has strong numbers in several crucial primary states like New Hampshire and Iowa. Bachmann pointed out that Crowley was being misleading by stating she came in last at the Florida straw poll, since the congresswomen did not even participate in the poll. Crowley switched gears to New Hampshire, where Bachmann was speaking from, and pointed to her low favorability rating and asked if to Bachmann it felt like something had “gone wrong” in her campaign.

Bachmann dismissed the criticism of her campaign, citing the cyclical nature of the Republican contest thus far, and said her priority was staying on-message, arguing the Iowa straw poll (which she won) is a better representation of how people feel than the other polls Crowley cited.

Crowley ended by asking Bachmann if she had second thoughts about not running for reelection in her Minnesota congressional district. Bachmann did not give a straight answer, but seemed to indicate she probably won’t.
