CNN’s John King: Roger Stone Is a ‘Known Bullsh*tter’
Michael Cohen claimed in his testimony Wednesday that President Donald Trump knew about the release of hacked DNC emails ahead of time thanks to Roger Stone.
“Mr. Trump put Mr. Stone on the speakerphone and Mr. Stone told Mr. Trump that he had just gotten off the phone with Julian Assange,” Cohen said, “and that Mr. Assange told Mr. Stone that within a couple of days there would be a massive dump of emails that would damage Hillary Clinton’s campaign. Mr. Trump responded by stating to the effect, wouldn’t that be great?”
CNN ran the clip this afternoon and Nia-Malika Henderson said that there’s really no way to corroborate this because it’s not clear if anyone would even been in the room.
Stone, for his part, is denying it.
Henderson also noted, “It’s not even clear if Roger Stone in this instance would have been telling the truth because we know how Roger Stone is.”
John King made the point a little more explicitly:
“Look, Roger’s a known bullshitter, forgive my language. So is he just doing this to hype his influence with the president? There are a lot of Republicans in town who will tell you that Roger was telling them back then that he had an in with Wikileaks and that he had an in with Assange. Most of them didn’t believe him because they don’t believe anything Roger says. But if he did that’s a big deal.”
