CNN’s Sanjay Gupta Has Had It with Dallas Hospital: ‘It’s Not That Challenging!’
CNN chief medical correspondent Sanjay Gupta displayed palpable frustration with Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Wednesday morning, after news that a second health care worker had tested positive for ebola.
Gupta told CNN’s New Day that it wasn’t that protocols were not being followed by the health care workers, but that the protocols themselves appeared insufficient, often failing to include basic procedures like fully covering skin.
“It’s not good guidance,” Gupta said. “It’s not that challenging. We’re not talking about some new experimental vaccine or experimental medication. We’re talking about covering your skin. Cover your skin! Because that’s how you get ebola! You’re a health care worker, you’re taking care of a sick patient, that’s the time they’re most infectious, that’s why health care workers do get sick — cover your skin! Why that didn’t happen is very concerning.”
