Colbert Giddy over the ‘Peeping Patriotism’ of Snapping Upskirt Pics

Upon learning that a Massachusetts court recently ruled that taking photos of the nether regions of a skirt-wearing lady was legally okay, Stephen Colbert could barely contain himself.

“Now, for the record, I do not approve of unauthorized groin photography,” Colbert said. “It is wrong. But let me remind you: you cannot spell ‘freak’ without spelling ‘frea’.”

Nevertheless, Colbert celebrated the “peeping patriotism” of Michael Robertson, a man accused of taking upskirt photos of two women on the MBTA, who then got off (HA) by arguing that the state only criminalized unauthorized gathering of spank bank material if the subject was naked.

“That was courageous of his lawyer to stand up for freedom,” he quipped, “but really more courageous of her to stand anywhere near Michael Robertson.”

Of course, this routine may ultimately prove moot, as Massachusetts lawmakers voted to outlaw upskirt photos likely around the same time Colbert taped his show.
