Concha Newsmax TV Panel: Sanders’ Call for GOP-Dem Primary Debates Awesome on All Levels
Mediaite’s Joe Concha and two-thirds of his Newsmax TV panel today agreed that a cross-party debate between Democratic and Republican candidates would be awesome.
Concha, host of The Daily Wrap and Mediaite columnist, was very intrigued by Bernie Sanders saying yesterday he wants to debate Republican 2016 candidates during the primary season because they “get away with murder.”
Rick Ungar and Brad Hirschfield were all on board with the idea, with Ungar saying “we might all actually learn something” and Hirschfield saying it might be good for candidates to attack the other side and “not dilute their own party.”
Commentary writer and former Mediaite editor Noah Rothman had to burst the excitement bubble, saying that a lot of the candidates are already debating each other on C-SPAN and there’s “absolutely nothing to be gained” aside from “partisan jabs” and lots of sniping.
While Concha joked such debates would advance nothing, “It would be so entertaining for us!” Which, well, yes it would.
