Conservative Ben Stein Slams Colin Powell: Calling GOP Racist Is ‘Preposterous’

Conservative economist and comedian Ben Stein slammed Colin Powell‘s recent comments that the GOP has a “dark vein of intolerance” in that they “look down on minorities.” It’s “preposterous,” Stein said.

“I don’t believe it,” he added.

According to Stein, Republicans have been “trying desperately to reach out to minorities” and may even have “many more African-Americans in the Cabinet at this point” than President Obama.

Stein did acknowledge that “at one point” Republicans were “looking for the racist vote,” but said that was “very, very long time ago.”

“They’re fully committed to being a multi-ethnic, open party, and to call them otherwise is just preposterous,” he concluded.
