Cruz: Trump ‘May Do Everything He Can to Encourage Riots’ at the Convention

Ted Cruz is still very hopeful for a contested convention, and today he openly suggested Donald Trump will do everything he can to egg on rioting if things don’t go his way.

On Face the Nation, John Dickerson made it clear that Cruz is suggesting that he could win at the convention with millions less votes and delegates to start out with than Trump. And in a situation like that, he asked, “won’t that lead to riots?”

Cruz said, “No, it won’t, although Donald may do everything he can to encourage riots.”

He objected to the idea that he would be “overthrowing” anything and insisted that there is plenty of historical precedent for the person coming in second ending up with the nomination.
