Daily Show Savages Laura Ingraham’s Viral Fauci Hearing Antics With Her Own Words

The Daily Show turned Fox News host Laura Ingraham’s own commentary against her to mock her antics at Dr. Anthony Fauci’s hearing Wednesday after she was spotted making faces behind him.

Ingraham was seated directly behind the former director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) as he appeared before the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee after receiving a subpoena.

During the hearing, Fauci invoked his Fifth Amendment rights over 100 times and declined to answer lawmakers’ questions.

While the hearing centered on the former top health official, social media attention shifted to Ingraham, whose eye-rolling, head-shaking and animated facial expressions became the focus of a segment posted online by The Daily Show.

The show’s edit of footage of Ingraham reacting behind Fauci was spliced with audio clips of the Fox host criticizing others for similar behavior, creating a montage that matched her previous remarks to her own expressions.

“The smirking for the camera… the smirk she had on her face… shaking her head… and she just kind of rolled her eyes, mugging for the cameras, and at certain points it almost seems like a competition for the camera,” Ingraham is heard saying in the video as footage showed her making the same gestures during the hearing.

She continued: “Her little charade for the cameras isn’t just an example of conduct that is boorish and rude, arrogant and rude, always performing for the cameras.”

As footage showed Ingraham taking a selfie during the hearing, the segment cut to another past remark: “Taking a selfie like a junior high school girl.”
