Dan Abrams And Nancy Grace Analyze The Defense Strategy In Casey Anthony Trial

Today on Good Morning America, Mediaite founder and ABC legal analyst Dan Abrams and HLN’s Nancy Grace joined George Stephanopoulos to discuss the latest developments in the ongoing trial of Casey Anthony. Previously, the two had discussed the ways the defense would handle their own client, today, they discussed how the attorneys have treated the person they consider the “villain” in the story, George Anthony, Caylee Anthony’s grandfather.

George Anthony had been brought back to the stand and had received a very antagonistic line of questioning from Casey Anthony’s attorney, Jose Baez. Grace even pointed out that she “thought they would come to blows.” Abrams pointed out the reasoning and risk of this strategy:

“The defense has claimed [George Anthony] is a child molester who may have disposed of the body here. So, it’s not surprising then that the defense attorney would treat him with some degree of disdain. The problem is, you’ve got to be careful not to get the juror’s disliking the attorney. So, it’s a fine line, but I do think that, if you take this defense seriously, that Jose Baez has to be aggressive. Very aggressive. And maybe even disdainful.”
