Dan Abrams And Nancy Grace Talk Casey Anthony Case: Step Away From The Abuse Angle
Yesterday, Mediaite founder and ABC legal analyst Dan Abrams, along with Nancy Grace, appeared on ABC’s Good Morning America to discuss the prosecution and defense’s tactics in the ongoing Casey Anthony case. This morning, the two kept the discussion going, focusing on the testimony given by Anthony’s former roommates, an ex-boyfriend and her neighbor.
Abrams focused on the challenge the defense has in dealing with how Anthony behaved in the days following her young daughter’s death. As he sees it, the defense would do well to keep things simple, and go after the most uncomplicated, logical means of explaining Anthony’s behavior after her child’s death: She was in shock, she was grieving in her own unique way, etc.The trial’s focus on alleged instances of child abuse sustained by Anthony, he argued, muddles their case. In fact, Abrams and Grace both agree that focusing on this supposed abuse might be a mistake, if not completely fabricated, even if the goal is to keep her off the stand.
Grace’s voice began to quiver as she grew increasingly upset over Anthony’s behavior, claiming that no mother on the jury would empathize with, say, her decision to enter a “hot body contest.”
