DeSantis Town Hall on Fox News Ambushed by Chanting Protestors
Ron DeSantis’ Fox News town hall in Iowa was ambushed by protesters, who held a banner in front of the Republican presidential candidate’s face and chanted, “No oil money!”
The ambush took place on Tuesday as DeSantis answered a question from the audience about abortion.
“It took 48 years for us to overturn Roe v. Wade. I’m a Christian, right? So I was in that battle. And then now that we get it done, the Republicans are running from it. They’re hiding from it. I mean, why don’t we own it?” asked a man in the audience. “I mean, that’s what we wanted. Why don’t we own it? How are you going to address this?”
As DeSantis started to respond, a group of protesters approached him at the stage and held a yellow banner in front of his face, chanting, “No oil money!” while DeSantis stared on with a bewildered face.
The protesters were quickly escorted away, but their chants could continue to be heard for another 10 seconds.
“You know, you live and you learn with these people, right?” said DeSantis, before laughing. “Alright. Alright. Well, you guys– that was a mistake. You guys didn’t get that one right. Ok.”
Soon after the incident, the DeSantis campaign posted a clip of the protesters along with the caption, “Ron DeSantis roasts leftist disruptors.”
DeSantis is no stranger to having protesters disrupt him in Iowa.
In August, one of DeSantis’ campaign stops in the state was disrupted by a woman who shouted, “Go back to Florida, pudding fingers!”
