Don Lemon Grills Host of Trump Fundraiser Who Says It’s Not a Fundraiser
Famous Boston car dealer Ernie Boch Jr. hosted a fundraiser for Donald Trump tonight, but in speaking with CNN’s Don Lemon, Boch wanted to make it clear that it wasn’t actually really a fundraiser (something Trump himself had said earlier).
Lemon didn’t quite understand why it wasn’t and pressed Boch to explain why. Boch said it started out as one, but “it is not a fundraiser now, because what people paid to get in will not even cover the cost of what is happening here.”
People paid $100 to get in and Boch said it goes to the campaign, but then the campaign “will pay it back for the cost of the event.” Lemon remarked, “It sounds like a fundraiser.”
Boch explained that he first got interested in Trump after he saw Trump on TV, changed channels, saw Trump on TV again, and changed channels again. He figured it would be interesting to try and bring Trump to Massachusetts––a state Republicans usually ignore––and see what happens.
Lemon still kept asking about the money issue, and Boch ended up saying that not everybody paid to get in, so it wasn’t exactly mandatory to pay the $100, and said that despite one to two thousand people being there, it probably wouldn’t be enough to cover the costs.
