Donald Trump ‘Fine’ With SCOTUS Ruling on Gay Marriage, ‘It’s Done’
In his first post-election interview, President-elect Donald Trump indicated that he had no problem with the Supreme Court’s 2015 ruling that gay marriage was a constitutional right and that it didn’t play at all into his decision-making on judicial picks.
“It’s irrelevant because it was already settled. It’s law. It was settled in the Supreme Court,” Trump said bluntly on 60 Minutes.
“I mean, it’s done…” he continued. “These cases have gone to the Supreme Court. They’ve been settled, and I’m fine with that.”
By contrast, Trump was firm that he would appoint pro-life justices. He indicated that he would prefer for Roe v Wade to be overturned and for the abortion issue to be determined on the state level.
