Donny Deutsch: ‘Did We Elect The Worst Person on The Planet?’ After Trump Falsely Claims Obama Didn’t Call Grieving Families

MSNBC’s Nicolle Wallace hosted a round table discussion today where she and her fellow panelists tore President Trump apart for saying Barack Obama never called to offer sympathy to gold star families.

The president is already facing major blowback over his false claim that his predecessor never reached out to the grieving parents of soldiers who gave their lives while serving in the United States Armed Forces. Wallace said Trump’s remarks amounted to “slander” against Obama (along with George W. Bush) and she wondered whether the president truly comprehends the gravity of his station.

“He owes those two presidents an apology before the end of the day,” Wallace said. “That is smear and slander, the likes of which I haven’t heard since… maybe yesterday, but it’s appalling he said that.”

Donny Deutsch was also on the panel, and he was furious with Trump for deflecting blame away from how long it took the president to publicly acknowledge the deaths of four American soldiers in Niger.

“He has no soul,” Deutsch fumed. “Instead of saying ‘No, I haven’t called them yet and I’m going to call them,’ basically did the reprehensible disgusting, soulless, callous thing of lying that these past presidents hadn’t done it. Did we elect the worst person on this planet?… Every time you think you can’t go lower, I want to cry. This is not about politics. There’s something so deeply wrong, evil, soulless about this person that’s got his hand on the switch and there’s nothing else to say.”

Bloomberg Businessweek’s Megan Murphy was concerned that the result of Trump’s comments will be a new lie adopted by the president’s supporters.
