During Which of Your Favorite Sitcoms Do Dems and GOP Advertise?
TV is the best way for advertisers to reach you. And political advertising has to be one of the more annoying types of advertising, which is why you see it everywhere, especially in a midterm season like this.
Which, of course, begs the question: which of your favorite shows are more likely to be targeted with political ads by Democrats or Republicans? Well, The Washington Post broke down the stats and looked at which candidates wanted ads during which programs.
It’s important to note these results may not reflect what actually aired during these shows, only where candidates were aiming.
In daytime TV, Dr. Phil and The View were the top two for Republicans, while Ellen DeGeneres and Steve Harvey‘s shows are the top two for Democrats.
The Tonight Show, Jimmy Kimmel Live!, and The Late Show had more Democrats trying to get ads on than Republicans. And if you’re looking for something split almost exactly evenly down the middle, The Price Is Right and Wheel of Fortune fit right in there.
But forget all that, what about primetime? Well, the top shows for Republicans include Big Bang Theory, Modern Family, Two and a Half Men, and Fargo. For Democrats, shows like Big Brother, The Voice, Chicago Fire, and The Good Wife are big shows to target.
