Edward Snowden Gives John Oliver Vital Password Protection Advice

Even with an extra 20 minutes of air time, John Oliver could not fit all of his interview with Edward Snowden into this past Sunday’s Last Week Tonight. So now, HBO has posted this online exclusive clip in which the NSA whistleblower gives Oliver some much-needed advice on how to pick an impenetrable password.
“Bad passwords are one of the easiest ways to compromise a system,” Snowden said, claiming that a common eight-character password can be broken in less than a second. Instead, he suggested longer phrases like “margaretthatcheris110%SEXY.”
“Wow, that is a password that not even a computer would guess,” Oliver remarked. “Now, you’re right, OK? I get it, I get how important it is. I fully understand that,” he added, summing up the feelings of most people around the world. “The problem is, I’m not going to do it, because it seems hard, even though I know it isn’t.”
