Former Geico Spokesman Blames FreedomWorks, Not Geico, For Getting Fired

Need a good example of the fractured political climate in which we find ourselves? Last night Geraldo Rivera had on as guests D.C. Douglas (the recently fired and former voiceover artist for Geico) and Matt Kibbe, the president of FreedomWorks who released Douglas’ voicemail to the public that led to his dismissal. Both were on the show. At the same time. But neither wanted to interact with one another. Rats.

In the lead up to this segment, producers for Geraldo at Large aired Douglas’ scathing video rebuttal to FreedomWorks, which was likely the most critical one minute of tea party coverage to be found on Fox News in the last year. Coming out of the video, Geraldo laughed and first spoke with the FreedomWorks President Kibbe, who responded to the host by claiming his desire to “draw a line in the sand” to Tea Party critics who, he feels, have been unfair.

As Kibbe’s moment on the program ended, Douglas came on, with Geraldo informing viewers that neither wanted to ‘inter-react” with one another, which is a shame. Both seemed reasonable in their approach, though they were clearly on very different sides of a much larger debate.
