Former Ambassador to Israel Declares That Ceasefire Deal Shows ‘There Is No Future for Hamas’ Under Trump

Former U.S. Ambassador to Israel David Friedman claimed that the ceasefire deal in Gaza shows there will be “no future for Hamas” under President-elect Donald Trump.

Hamas and Israel announced on Wednesday morning that the first phase of a ceasefire agreement has been reached between the two parties. An exchange of Israeli hostages and Palestinian prisoners will reportedly occur before Trump enters office.

A report by The Washington Post indicates that Trump’s involvement in the peace talk discussions reportedly led to pressure on Israel to reach a peace deal.

During an interview with Fox News anchor Harris Faulkner, Friedman noted that the ceasefire reveals Hamas’ rule over the Gaza Strip is coming to an end as Trump prepares to reenter the White House.

“Some people, I think, are misinterpreting this as some kind of a capitulation to Hamas or an agreement that Hamas could continue to rule the Gaza Strip. Well, President Trump, first of all, I was hearing his comments just in real time, as you put it out. He put the words never again in capital letters that never again will Hamas rule the Gaza Strip. And I think that’s important,” said Friedman.

He continued:

And, you know, when you think about this team that President Trump has assembled, of course, his own words themselves. You heard Mike Waltz earlier today say that Hamas has to be decapitated. You heard your colleague, Pete Hegseth, testifying yesterday that he supported the killing of every single member of Hamas. You heard future Secretary Marco Rubio saying that will never be a ceasefire if Hamas stays in power. You’ve got Brian Mast, who’s the incoming leader of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, when he was asked where do you stand on Hamas, he said, I stand on their throats. So…There’s no future for Hamas. And frankly, I think it’s the recognition by Hamas that their days are numbered. You know, that there is no future for them, for them that cause them to to make a deal today that that frankly, people thought they agreed to seven months ago but apparently weren’t willing to do so. I think this is all because of their recognition that with the incoming administration, they have no future.
