Former Clinton Pollster Tells Fox News Democratic Party Support Is at ‘Record Low’ and ‘Falling off a Cliff’
Hillary Clinton’s 2008 pollster Mark Penn told Fox News host Laura Ingraham Friday night that the Democratic Party’s favorability with voters is at a “record low” and sinking.
Penn joined The Ingraham Angle, where he said Democrats appeared rudderless after losing the White House and Senate last November and that the situation had not improved since.
Ingraham opened an interview with Penn by playing a clip of CNN’s David Axelrod saying earlier this week that he felt many Americans viewed the Democratic Party as a haven for “elites.”
She asked Penn to share polling about the party he had not yet released publicly.
Ingraham asked Penn, “Why are they failing to connect with the American people a month into this administration?”
Penn replied, “Well, I’ve got some new polling coming out Monday that I’ve just looked at, and frankly, the Democratic Party has fallen off a cliff.” He continued:
The ratings, which were in the high 40s, are going to be like 35%. And I think the basic question is, who’s doing a better job as President Biden or Trump? Trump is winning that with 57%. I think you’re seeing a retrospective assessment of Biden and the direction the Democratic Party was going, and really a lot more negative than it was on Election Day.
And they’re looking at the contrast on immigration, on economic policy, on some of the social policies. And boy, they’re reevaluating in the Democratic Party. I have never seen anything like this. This is a record low for the Democratic Party in terms of favorability. It has fallen really, really way down. And I don’t think there’s any leadership right now that’s going to be able to bring that back.
