Fort Lee Mayor: Official Involved in NJ Traffic Scandal ‘Deserves an Ass-Kicking’
Mark Sokolich, the mayor of Fort Lee, New Jersey, has taken to the airwaves today to decry the political scandal that created serious traffic issues not just on the George Washington Bridge, but also in the city of Fort Lee and the surrounding area. One of the e-mails obtained in today’s big revelations was former Port Authority official David Wildstein saying, “It will be a tough November for this little Serbian,” a reference to Sokolich.
Chris Hayes asked Sokolich for his response to that “vicious little jab.” Sokolich’s response:
“David Wildstein deserves an ass-kicking, okay? Sorry. There, I said it.”
Sokolich went on about how offensive it is for anyone to “intentionally to this” for petty political reasons. He also pointed out that it wasn’t just Fort Lee affected by the lane closures at the bridge, a number of other communities were also affected.
This scandal was reportedly kicked off in the first place because of Sokolich’s refusal to endorse Chris Christie for reelection last year.
