Fox & Friends Blasts NBC For Corrected Report on Trump Lawyer: ‘They’re Upset He’s Creating So Many Jobs’
Fox & Friends slammed NBC News on Friday morning for the outlet’s botched report claiming federal investigators wiretapped Trump’s personal lawyer Michael Cohen.
NBC News issued a full correction to its report a few hours after publishing the initial bombshell, noting federal investigators were monitoring and keeping a log of Cohen’s calls — not listening in to their contents. Pretty big difference.
And Fox & Friends noticed, laying into NBC News for its error.
“It was such a big story,” Steve Doocy said. “It was on all the channels where they were talking about it until it was discovered that NBC got the story completely wrong.”
The show played a clip of Ari Fleischer (not the best spokesperson for truth, but alas) claiming NBC News’s botched report has to do with the idea that “the whole velocity and direction of the press is to blame Donald Trump for everything.”
Brian Kilmeade noted the reports about the Trump administration that need to be retracted or corrected are always negative, “pro-the investigation and against the Trump Administration.”
“They’re upset he’s creating so many jobs,” Ainsley Earhardt quipped.
Kilmeade pointed out it took four hours for NBC News to correct the report on Chuck Todd’s MSNBC show.
“The president has not tweeted about this,” Earhardt noted (Trump would tweet about it minutes later.)
Earhardt, a host on the biggest cable news network on television, concluded with a bizarre self-own:
“This is why the whole phrase fake news came about,” she said (it is not). “Many people complain about his tweeting, but that’s his way of getting the story correct in his opinion.
“He can’t rely on the mainstream media,” she added.
