Fox Guest: Ferguson a ‘Get Out the Vote Effort’ for 2016
Niger Innis appeared on Fox news this afternoon and told Neil Cavuto he thinks Ferguson is part of a progressive “get out the vote” effort for the 2016 elections. Innis said right at the outset “I don’t want to get too conspiratorial here,” but then proceeded to share something that came across as slightly conspiratorial.
Innis said there are “elements within the progressive movement that saw the results of the 2014 election,” and realized they’ve “got to do something to inspire and to revive the kind of galvanized support” they’ve had from minority groups in past elections.
So when it comes to Ferguson, Innis argued, “This is ultimately a GOTV effort for 2016, to get folk that have been dropping off from that progressive coalition.” Innis made it clear he didn’t think all of the Ferguson protests were about this, and did acknowledge legitimate grievances by protestors, but said progressive elements have leeched onto it to get black voters “reignited for 2016.”
