Fox Host Jabs Liberal Colleague During Ten Commandments Debate: ‘We Already Know You Walked Away From Christianity’
A debate over a new Louisiana law requiring public school classrooms to display the Ten Commandments got personal on Outnumbered Thursday when Fox News’ Harris Faulkner declared that her colleague Leslie Marshall had “walked away from Christianity.”
Marshall made her case against the new law by noting that “Louisiana is 49th in education,” and has “one of the highest teen pregnancy rates,” before suggesting that the state should focus on “feeding the children.”
“So as a former Christian, one of the things that I would like to see the Jesus that I know in the Bible — and I’m not a spokesperson — but I think he would care more if we really cared about the children,” she added.
“I this is worth having this discussion, Leslie, because if what you’re saying is by being 49th in some of those areas of educational performance for the students in Louisiana, if what you’re saying is that they haven’t tried many other things, that pretty much they’ve tried everything else, and nothing has turned,” replied Faulkner. “I mean, we’ve tried this in other school districts. We know we’re in trouble. We know that we’re going to need something more than X’s and O’s, and we know it more intimately now as parents than we knew it before the pandemic, because we see the teaching and what’s coming out of some of these classrooms. So if you really want to move the needle academically, you may want to try every single option.”
“If you want your kids to have religion then send them to a school affiliated with your church,” shot back Marshall, prompting Faulkner to argue that not everyone can afford to do that.
Marshall then doubled down on her earlier point, offering a $50 bet over whether the state’s educational ranking will improve.
“Well, we already know you walked away from Christianity!” shouted Faulkner in response. “So you don’t have that faith, okay?”
“Well, I have a relationship with God. I just am not a Christian,” said Marshall.
“We’re talking about Christianity, right? And you made it clear on your own!” said Faulkner.
“Yeah,” came back Marshall.
“Okay,” concluded Faulkner before moving on to another topic.
